Jewish Singles Directory - Speed Dating

SpeedDating at Aish Ha Torah - This is the one and only original "speed dating" phenomenon. It was invented by a Rabbi, and becamse so popular the the gentiles started copying the concept. But Aish is the one and only original Jewish speed dating organization.

The webmaster went to a Jewish speed dating event, and this is my report:

The event was held at a Jewish Community Center. I arrived to early, and was placed in the unfortunate circumstance of having to wait around for a half hour with a few other people who also arrived too early. I should have arrived a half hour too late, because it took at least that long to process all of the people who were there.

I was in a 25-35 group, because I was 35 at the time, and why would I want to be in an older group? All 35 year old men want to date a younger woman.

The event for my age group was held in this big ugly event room inside the JCC. I think I did seven rounds. Each round I got to sit across from one girl (I know, "woman" is more politically correct) and talk to her for five minutes. At the end of the evening, you had to hand in a piece of paper indicating which of the people you "dated" you would want to meet, and then Aish would take care of giving you there phone numbers.

As I recall, two of the girls I talked to were cute, so I put down that I would like to see them again. There was a third girl I considered, who was kind of cute in a slightly overweight kind of way, but I decided against here. And the other girls I spoke to were either not very attractive, or we had a serious personality conflict.

About the serious perosnality conflict: one girl told me she was a lawyer, and during the course of the "date", running out of conversation, I stupidly asked her who here favorite Supreme Court Justice was (she was a lawyer after all). And then she asked me mine. And I said "Justice Scalia". And she went crazy. The hatred she had for Justice Scalis course through all the fibers of her body. I guess we wouldn't have been compatible so it's probably a good thing that I found that out then and not later. Nevertheless I would recommend to future speed daters not to ask their "date" who their favorite Supreme Court justice is.

None of the girls that I indicated interest in were interested in me, so the evening was a complete waste.
